OH, NOW WE KNOW — Polls find New York area residents want better infrastructure

Tri-state residents are not optimistic about the future of the region’s infrastructure, according to a poll commissioned by HNTB, an infrastructure services firm. In April, HNTB’s pollster asked 1,001 tri-state region residents a series of questions about the state of the region’s roads, bridges and trains. Ninety-eight percent of them agreed the area’s infrastructure is in need of urgent repair. Sixty-five percent said they expect congestion to worsen over the next five years.And, given the option, more would prefer to pay for better infrastructure with rather than property tax hikes.
