As Associate Director of Cultural Insights, Teiko has an innate curiosity for understanding consumers and the cultural world in which they live and interact. A strategic thinker, Teiko helps brands look outside their categories to understand the cultural context in which they play and how to leverage culture to identify emergent opportunities.
Teiko earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication from Cal Poly Pomona and worked as an assistant account executive at a PR Agency in Los Angeles for a few years before moving to New York to pursue her Master’s in Media, Culture & Communication from NYU. It was through her graduate program that she stumbled upon the Cultural Insight field, which balanced her interest in research with a critical thinking lens that focused on media and culture.
Prior to joining Kelton, Teiko was a Strategic Consultant at Kantar specializing in Cultural Insights and Brand Strategy. Working across various research disciplines, she helped develop brand positionings for various tech, CPG, alcohol, and media clients. Using her knowledge in cultural and semiotic analysis, Teiko helped clients understand global trends and how to leverage this to strategically position their brand.
Outside of work, Teiko can be found roaming the streets of New York looking for the latest food craze. When she’s not out exploring new restaurants you can find her snuggling with her two dogs, Quincy and Oliver, and either reading or binge watching Netflix.
